Denis Cox - Business Development Manager
Denis started his career in 1982 in thoroughbred racing at Caulfield Racecourse. He spent 19 years at the VATC and gained experience in various different areas of racing whilst at the same time obtaining an Accounting & Marketing Degree from Monash University. He particularly enjoyed working in marketing, membership and sponsorship and was successful in securing a number of new major sponsors.
In 2001 Denis accepted the role of CEO for the Geelong Racing Club (2001-2004). He successfully turned the Club around, managed the building of a new $3M grandstand and secured the attendance of Irish galloper ‘Media Puzzle’ who not only won the Geelong Cup but went on the win the Melbourne Cup.
Roles as Sales & Marketing Manager for the Moonee Valley Racing Club (2004-2009) followed before he moved to Rockhampton to take on the role of CEO for the Rockhampton Jockey Club (2009-2012). At the RJC he successfully achieved a record profit and also managed the $2M redevelopment of the Members’ Grandstand and $6.5M reconstruction of the course proper.
In 2012 the opportunity to take on the role of CEO for Beef Australia Ltd became available. Beef Australia conduct a major international Beef Expo held every three years in Rockhampton. He successfully managed Beef Australia 2015 and Beef Australia 2018. In 2018 over 100,000 people attended the Expo.
Denis was a finalist in the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) ‘Manager of the Year’ 2012 in Central Queensland.
In October 2018 Denis became a part owner and General Manager of the iconic Great Western Hotel in Rockhampton which has a built in arena popular for bull riding, rodeos and major music acts.
From March 2021 to August 2023 Denis lived and worked on Great Keppel Island, Central Queensland, at the Hideaway Resort, initially as Food & Beverage Manager and then Sales & Marketing Manager.
Denis started with HydroKleen Australia in November 2023 in the role of Business Development Manager.
